As a Matter of (f) Act 01 - The Queen Must Die (2024)
As a Matter of (f) Act is an image-text, work-in-progress series. Each edition focusing on a single gesture where human and nature meet. A paradoxical encounter, nonetheless, in which humankind occupies a position of humility yet control, both following and bending the laws of nature.
The applied photographic aesthetics reinforce the tendency to romanticize this encounter between human and nature, as well as that of the photographic medium; the text creates an experimental counter-narrative in which the boundaries between fact and fiction dissolve, and serves to deconstruct this romanticized translation of reality we often attribute to the photographic medium.
As a Matter of (f) Act 01, The Queen Must Die is the first in a series: beekeeper and beehive, followed by fisherman and the full moon, mountain shepherd and his flock, (tbc)
