You Know What I Mean (2017) observes the entrance to a mosque in Saint-Louis, Senegal. The audio, accompanied by subtitles, captures an off-screen live conversation between two white, female and privileged European citizens reflecting on their present experiences and observations. The film is a raw document that bears witness to a direct confrontation with confusion and uncertainty, unsettling and shifting the foundations of basic communication and mutual understanding.
